Glammy Award Nominees Announced

Pride WA have annouced the nominees for this years Glammy Awards. The awards aim to celebrate members of, and organisations within the WA DSG community. The nominees are selected by the community and the three finalists for each category are voted on by a handpicked judging panel of five judges from various Perth organisations.

Finalists in the the Best Community Group section include RTRFM’s radio program All Things Queer, philanthropic social group Club West and the suicide prevention initaitive It Get’s Better Australia.

Drag artist and DJ Feminem will face off against fellow DJs Tim Bee and Curlee for the best entertainer award. On finding out he was nominated Tim Bee told OUTinPerth, ‘I am totally surprised that I am up for a Glammy. I love what I do so much that I forget some of the things that go with it.   It has been a very good year for me and I love everyone who has let me do what I want to do.’

Established LGBT venues Connections and The Court Hotel will face competition from new venue The Honey Lounge in the Best Gay or Gay-Friendly Venue category.

A number of local community members are also nominated ina range of awards. Pride WA Co-President Paul Van Lesihout Hunt, Freedom Centre volunteer Alexander Bartz, Melane White from the WA Police, Connections owner Tim Brown and Mark Reid from the WA AIDS Council have all scored nominations.

The awards will be announced at a Gala Ball at the All Season’s Hotel on  May 19. Find out all the details are Pride WA
